Α new effort began in 2019 from Chania, one of the most beautiful seaside towns in Greece, with a distinct athletic education, with a great history in classic sports, with the emergence of great athletes, and with the organization of excellent sports events, bring again Greece on the first line of major international track and field events.

In 2019 Greek National Athletics Association (SEGAS) recognizing the 70-year-long and brighter course of the historical organization “VENIZELIA” organized by AC Kydon Chania and the 8-year successful and rising course of the Athletic Meeting of Athletics “CHANIA” organized by GS Eleftherios Venizelos created the necessary conditions for the merger of the two competitions into a new organization named “VENIZELIA – CHANIA”, which already belonged to the EAA Classic Permit Meetings in 2019 and in EAA Bronze Meetings for 2020

The participation of co-organizers from Cretan institutions with a special dynamic and contribution to society, such as the Region of Crete, the Municipality of Chania, the Regional Unity of Chania and the Municipality of Platanias, recognizing the importance of “joining forces to a common purpose” for the success of 2019 event and for ensuring its annual performance.

In 2021,  at the National Stadium of Chania “Elena Venizelou” the top of the Greek and world athletes will compete.
