Venizelia Chania 2021 – Press release 18/5 – Disciplines

After a forced absence for a year due to the pandemic and the problems created by the international track and field match VENIZELIA CHANIA, it will be held again on May 30, 2021 in Chania at the Elena Venizelou Stadium.

With the inclusion in the Bronze category of the European Federation, the race is now the only race in Greece that will give a bonus to the athletes to improve their position in the ranking to ensure their participation in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics

The National Athletics Federation (S.E.G.A.S.) with the support and guidance of which the meeting takes place, encouraged and supported the two Historical Associations of Chania “AO Chanion o Kydon” and “GS Eleftherios Venizelos” to organize this year, despite the difficult conditions in every way, the international meeting VENIZELIA – CHANIA that with such great organizational and competitive success started in 2019 in the crowded stands of the stadium “Elena Venizelou”

The organizing committee in collaboration with the co-organizers, the Region of Crete and the Municipality of Chania is working towards ensuring the best conditions for the best selection of Greek and foreign athletes and the best possible organization. Many local and not only companies and organizations have already expressed the intention and desire to help everyone in their own way in the better preparation of the event.

The competitions of the international meeting that will be held this year according to the decision of the European Federation are the following:

Men: 100m – 400m – 1500m – Long Jump – Triple Jump – Shot put – Hammer throw

Women: 100m – 400m – 800m – 100m hurdles – Triple Jump – High Jump

The games will be held in accordance with the current SEGAS Health Protocol approved by the GGA, while there will also be television coverage by state television.
